Hilary Hendershott Review: Wealth Management Scam?
Hilary Hendershott is a website that peddles investment advisory services to women and divorced people.
Hilary Hendershott Wealth Management, which can be found at hilaryhendershott.com, is offering the following list of services.
- Financial planning
- Retirement planning
- 401 (K) Plan administration
- Tax-efficient investing
- Platinum Client Services
Other than the services above, they also offer a free e-Book called Multiplying your Wealth.
This can be obtained for free on the website as long as visitors are willing to exchange this with their contact info.
The company’s marketing materials claim that they currently have 100 clients.
Funds of these clients are kept in a segregated account at Charles Schwab Institutional.
The company neither post trading results nor success stories on their website, citing reasons to do with the nature of this information on their website and how other potential clients might take it.
Hilary Hendershott is operating from the San Francisco Bay area.
The business is operating under Hilary and Jen. Jen is supposedly an associate financial advisor.
Hilary is selling investment services while also claiming to be a certified financial expert.
While HilaryHendershott is registered with the SEC, their other company is not.
It appears that Family Wealth Consultants LLC is also owned and operated by Hilary.
Its SEC registration status was terminated back in 2014.
Also, the registration status of Hilary Hendershott Inc as at 2016 reads “Conditional Restricted”.
It’s not clear under what circumstances that SEC decided to terminate their other company.
We’re also not sure why this Hillary Hendershott wealth management company is restricted in Texas but approved for operations in Indiana.
Is Hillary Hendershott Legit?
The answer to this question depends on several factors.
First off, while it’s true that this company is SEC registered, their website is heavily relying on promotion statements which cannot be verified.
For example, Hilary claims that she has zero unhappy clients.
She also claims that one of her clients came to her with 1.8 million dollars for investing and 6 years later, the client has made $500,000 for surporting her early retirement.
Of course we can’t verify the reliability of this information unless we actually see proof of verified successful trading with clients’ money.
And of course this is contrary to the warning that this website does not post “success stories” of their clients.
Conclusion
There are so many financial advisors on the internet and it’s quite difficult to pick the right one.
If you’re interested in the Hilary Hendershott Wealth Management service, do your due diligence but most importantly, treat their SEC registration status as a time bomb waiting to explode.
Why does Family Wealth Consultants Inc continue to operate without Sec’s approval?
Think about these things before you let them manage your money.
Otherwise, you could even trade for yourself or use these products and services which don’t put you at the mercy of dubious financial planners.
